In 2005, AOL covered the Live 8 concerts in six cities with simultaneous live streams, broadcast without interruption on its site. Heralded as a breakthrough in online media vs. traditional media, AOL’s coverage of the event earned it the first Daytime Emmy ever awarded in the new ‘nontraditional broadband delivery platform’ category. My team built the experiences that helped AOL win the Emmy- so we each got a turn with the statue.
